November 1st thru 15th

11-1-14 Ice skating lesson. Stayed home the rest of the day to recuperate from Halloween.
11-2-14 Finally got a haircut after weeks overdue. She wouldn’t let me cut it until after Halloween so she could have her Elsa braid. Daddy took her swimming.

Picture Retake Day

School Picture Retake Day 11-3-14

11-3-14 Picture retake day. Attempted to style her hair in a cute braid; wish I knew how to French braid. Picked her up from after care; she proceeded to tell me she had 2 brownies due to Pablo’s birthday, a chocolate chip cooke with her school lunch and a teacher gave her a Hershey’s kiss for listening well. Thank you public school for going against everything I’m attempting to teach my child about healthy eating habits! We completed her homework, went to my gym and proceeded to her dance class. Raced home, ate dinner and off to bed. Makes for a long day! I’ve been singing, “You Are My Sunshine” to her and she loves it! Seems to be making her listen better to me.
11-5-14 Her new glasses came in. My favorite that she’s ever had; they are similar to mine. Her favorite friend from her class wants to get glasses just like her, but her friend doesn’t need glasses. She said her favorite subject in school is writing. Last year writing was her least favorite; she had a meltdown because her Kindergarten teacher made her write something before she could have her snack.
11-6-14 We did her homework at McDonald’s before her art class due to time constraints and she didn’t do it at after care. Mother of the Year uses McDonald’s when we’re in a hurry and I’m just too damn tired to think about anything. After art class, quick bath and finish her reading homework before bed. She must be tired because I got her bandaid wet in the bath and it was a SMOOTH bandaid she got at school; OMG! The world was coming to an end because I didn’t have the same SMOOTH bandaid. The waterproof one I had calmed her down. Then, it was onto another meltdown because she didn’t get to watch TV at all today! I wanted to scream and take away TV until she’s 18! Instead, I took a deep breath and used the methods described in “Peaceful Parenting, Happy Kids…How to Stop Yelling and Start Connecting,” and it worked!

The World Would Be A Better Place If…11-7-14

11-7-14 Volunteered at her school today helping out with the National PTSA Art Reflections Contest. After school she played with Simone on the school playground. Friday evening ice skating lesson; she’s improving fast!

Halloween Candy

Halloween Candy Disbursement 11-8-14

11-8-14 Saturday morning ice skating lesson. Daddy took her to watch Big Hero 6 while mommy was at yoga. She disbursed her remaining Halloween candy: I got 9 pieces, daddy got 8 because he already eats too much candy and she got 10. As you can see, mommy has already eaten most of hers.
11-9-14 Daddy took her to the book store because she wants to read Level 3 books now instead of 1 & 2. Then, upon her request, he took her ice skating. She asked me if she was going to be in the Olympics one day. All I could see were $$$ that we would have to spend if that is her goal!
11-11-14 Veteran’s Day. No school or after care, so daddy stayed home from work. Not sure what they did all day, but certain it wasn’t any housework.

Dana the Dinosaur in color pencils

Dana the Dinosaur in color pencils 11-13-14

11-13-14 Woke up at 530am for 615am yoga before work. Left work early to lead her 1st grade art class today; topic was vertical and horizontal lines. I made an origami crane for her; therefore, I ended up making a crane for every student in her class. After school was her Daisy Girl Scout meeting, then to her art class. She completed, “Dana the Dinosaur” in colored pencils. We arrived at home at 7pm after a quick stop at McDonald’s drive thru. By that time, I didn’t care if she had cookies and M&M’s for dinner! She’s been complaining for 2 days that we don’t play together anymore. Seriously kid?!? I’m working now and we have you overscheduled (and, she’s asking for gymnastics and swimming lessons again!) Told her we’d do something this weekend. She needs one on one fun time with mommy.
11-14-14 Ice skating lesson tonight. Saw her friend Simone at the rink. Simone is practicing to be in the Winter Solstice show in December, so of course, she had to do it too! I didn’t sign her up because the practice night is Monday and we can’t do Mondays, but the director said we could practice on another night so she can perform. It will be her 1st ice skating performance!

Disney on Ice
